Joey and Christy took Joey to the hospital yesterday because his feet turn purple after just a minute or two when he is held vertically. When they prop him up on their chest to burp him or something, his little feet look like they aren’t getting good circulation. As soon as they lay Joey on his back, his feet return to their normal color.
The first doctor we saw examined Joey and didn’t know what was wrong, so she went and got a pediatrician who specializes in cardiology. He gave Joey an even more thorough examination, and, being unable to find any problems, left to “consult up” with an even more experienced pediatrician. Even the third doctor admitted that she had never seen such symptoms in a baby.
In adults, the symptoms would suggest “deep vein thrombosis.” That is scarey because of the threat of clotting. The doctors told them to keep a close eye on Joey, keep him horizontal, and come back in two weeks unless they notice swelling or a change for the worse.
If you have heard of this condition or have any information about it, please leave a comment below. We are praying that God heals Joey. Will you join us in requesting this of God?
